29/05/2006 Stigma RantWhat is it about socialites? I sometimes take anxiety attacks, and I suppress them, and sometimes I go to the bathroom to compose myself, and I'm very discreet. Word gets back to me that people talk about me behind my back trying to get info from whoever I came to the event with. Or I go to church, and I'm surrounded by people in richy outfits and richy cars, and our family's the only family in that church who is on welfare. I remember when I was dating my husband, churchgoers who know him tried to talk him out of marrying me, saying things like "why are you going around with a woman who's disabled, and got a bad reputation?" when I was at the time turning my life around for the better. I'm different. So what? I've got a stigma because I'm not like everybody else. Nobody's perfect. And I certainly not gonna change into some socialite just to fit in. I tried that before. Believe me, it don't work. Acting like someone else leaves you feeling like you've lost your true identity, who you really are. 18/05/2006 Afghanistan RantI guess those of us who keep a half an ear to the news know about Islamic extremism around the world. I mean, it's rampant! Which concerns me that PM Stephen Harper and his cronies in Parliament decided to keep Canadian troops in Afghanistan until Feb of '09. Afghanistan is a Muslim country. Al-Qaida's motley crue hates Westerners. We Canadians are Westerners. What does that spell, Mr. Harper??? Think!!! Canada being a more likely terrorist target than ever before!  12/05/2006 Mother's Day RantWhat's the big deal with Mother's Day? I wonder if fewer than realized people actually celebrate that day? Is it really a commercialized day for Hallmark to make money? In this day and age, the family unit is falling apart. Couples divorce and remarry thus reak havoc with emotions. Children of abusive mothers don't like this day due to bad memories. Mothers whose children die at a young age find Mother's Day heartbreaking. My mother disowned me, hates me, wishes I was dead. There are other mothers who have disowned their children. I say cancel Mother's Day. It's too painful. What will I do that day? Probably take a whole bottle of Paxil and maybe go sleep for the whole day. No, seriously, I'll probably stay home from church and eat chocolate bars and sleep. Nor am I a respector of persons. But what I don't understand why people make fun of fat people? I mean, don't they have enough problems already without facing humiliation? I'm overwieght myself. I don't overeat, though. I walk, I don't buy candy bars all the time, I don't go for seconds at the dinner table. But I'm still overwieght. Obesity is being addressed in the news, but they take pics of fat people and not show their faces. I hate that! They create derogatory cartoons about fat people. Here's a few pics to show what I mean. 03/05/2006 Bloc RantWell, it looks like we're not going into a snap election. In a way I'm relieved, being too close the last election. But what ticks me off is that the Blocs are gonna vote in favor of the budget (in a minority gov't, the governing party must have the support of at least one opposition party in order for anything to pass) and I know that the Blocs got their arse covered child-care wise, so whuzzit to them? After all, Quebec got everything an a silver platter, so they're returning the favor in supporting the federal gov't so it won't fall. Oh, please spare me this baloney! On a softer note, my sincere sympathy to all the daycares across the country; especially those that'll be shut down due to Stephen (DUBYA!!!) Harper's devious plan. 02/05/2006 Post-Federal Budget RantYep, was I ever right! The Tories rolled out their budget tonight, and that means more and more daycares around the country will be either forced to shut down or raise their fees! Yeah, and for those of us on Social Assistance, we're never gonna see one red cent of the $1,200 per year allowance! WHY?!? BECAUSE IT'S TAXABLE, STUPID!!! The Dept of Community Services will deduct dollar for dallar, cent for cent from our welfare checks! Middle-income families are a little better off...they get to see a whopping three-hundred-and-something after taxes! Unless the opposing parties decide to take Stephen (DUBYA!!!) Harper's challenge and vote against the federal budget, thus causing the government to fall, thus triggering a $250 million federal election!!! |
