31/05/2007 Grumbling and Griping about EverythingWell, it's 5am and still had not a wink of sleep. I had it out with a cronky op in #christiandebate, then afterwords I went into a deep depression where all I wanted to do is crank and whine and complain and make everyone around me miserable. Quite frankly, I just wish that his Royal Highness would get his royal butt outta #cd and leave us alone!!!
So now my depression's gone and I can now function like a real human being, I stayed up all night and made about a hundred peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. Heh...housework when unable to sleep. The only prob is I ate like two or three cookies and now I'm gonna be two or three hundred pounds by the time the day rolls around.
My son got sick at daycare yesterday afternoon. Y'know, I'm reallyreallyreally impressed by their concern for him. He didn't throw up or anything, but had a pretty high fever. Knowing that he wouldn't walk home with me, and Hubby forgot the cellphone (again!!!) one of the resource teachers offered to take us home. Naturally I flatly refused it, but thank you very much for the offer. She wouldn't listen to me, nor my compromise to accept gas money, and took us home anyway. I put a toonie on the seat when I got out and told her to accept it. But truly, I'm grateful in my heart. But then again, one shouldn't rely on such kindness...
Life was so much more simple without a computer. I mean, what kind of joker thought of computers, anyway? Now they're a must-have in every person's home. Not only that, they're a major pain in the seating apparatus. In about ten years' time, everything would be computerized. Heck, maybe even our stoves will be computerized. Err...are they? I don't know...all I have is this 30-year-old thing that's called an oven and it works like an oven, too. Now I'm rambling on and on and on and I'm probably so overtired I dunno know if I'm coming or going or what the heck I'm bloggin' about...huh? 25/05/2007 Early Morning RantHere I am typing...with no sleep in sight. I guess I'm turning nocturnal for some reason. It's nearly 5am...and so far, I've made cookies, bread (which is rising now) and am just about to fold some laundry. In the meantime I've been hanging out in #christiandebate and #christian being silly, and surfing the Net. Wow...is Hubby ever gonna get mad!!! lol Oh yeah...and I even cleaned the kitchen :P
I wish Hubby would just lay off the fat jokes. Just recently on the news there was this Toranto lady who was 380 pounds who had gastric by-pass surgery. Hubby jsut laughed and told me I need to get a tummy-tuck and a butt-tuck. I mean, he's always jiggling my fat and laughing at it and telling me I need to lose weight. And I don't eat that much. I'm trying. Now I'm resorting to skipping meals and cutting down meal portions. It reallyreallyreally hurt bad. I'm only about 160 pounds, for heaven's sake!!!
I'm beginning to love computers now...I'm even seriously considering to take a course. But on the other hand, I also love photography and videography. Sigh...why didn't I go thru this as a teenager???
23/05/2007 Weird StuffIt has been weird weather-wise. Actually, tonight in the Maritimes there is a frost warning in effect...in MAY!!! Also, endless days of rain, cold, wind, and just last week I said to a friend that I thought this year's hurricane season would be more active. Today, I just found out that Enviroment Canada just made the same prediction...13-17 named storms. Well, one has already passed...Andrea...and it isn't even Hurricane season yet. I guess you all can tell I'm a "closet" storm-watcher :P
About my CyberCrush...well! I think I'm over the guy, thank goodness. That is good news, praise God. From now on, I'll just have to be very careful, and not exchange email addresses unless I know they're gals. And to think I was invinceable in this dept...yeah right!!!
The past 3 nights I have been unable to sleep...last night I even stayed up ALL night!!! :P So I finally went to sleep when my 2 kids went to daycare...much to the chagrin of my poor hubby who don't understand why us women are so different from men...LOL! Early menopause???
Speaking of #chrisitiandebate, I joined this website, Facebook, and joined the #cd group. Wow...it sure is nice to put a face to a name. As for my profile, I just put my MSN blog on cuz facebook's print is so tiny. I don't want to be involved with too many websites and groups...you tend to lose track of them all.
Last but not least, my aunt up in Ontario is down in Nova Scotia. It'll be my first time in almost 25 years that I'll have seen her. Maybe this weekend, perhaps. :)
15/05/2007 Jerry Falwell and Other Scary StuffJerry Falwell, ultra-conservative televangelist and political activist died at noon of a heart attack today. He had befriended many right-ring conservatives and made enemies with the gay community and pro-choicers. I was in the ChristianDebate chatroom today, and naturally everyone was talking about it. Tensions were so high that one cranky op (no doubt a Jerry Falwell fan) even kicked one guy out for "celebrating" Falwell's death! Well, no doubt he'll be buried with pomp.
There is a breakout of Mumps now...in adults. Spreading from the East Coast to the West Coast, there are already 300 reported cases here in Canada. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking "Avian Flu". You know what's the scary part of the Mumps breakout is? It started at a university right here in Halifax!!!
A bomb was discovered at Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton, NB a few days ago...a real one at that. A 14-year-old kid was arrested. I'm sorry, but this is getting more and more closer to home to my liking. Here students are scared to go back to school and some wishing for metal detectors. While we know that we can't implement airport security-like security, how can we stop kids from bringing weapons/explosives to schools? Well, for starters, moms and dads, become more involved in your kids' lives. But on the other hand, if the kid's just simply rebellious, one should hire security guards and install surveillance cameras in the schools. Not only to reduce the kids' violent behavior, but also to calm down some nerves. Hearing this and having a kid going to school in September sure makes me nervous.
And last but not least, our MPs are gonna have a showdown in Parliament; perhaps even as I write. They will vote on whether or not the Atlantic provinces will get the off-shore accord revenue or not, with the N-Dippers calling it a vote of confidence. Should one party...just one party...fail to support the Tories in taking our off-shore revenue away from us, then we're off for a spring federal election. Great. Another five weeks of almost-humorous mud-slinging campaigns. The Blocs may support the Conservatives...but what do they care? It ain't affecting them. As for Nova Scotia, we're getting the butt end of the deal anyway: either the off-shore revenue or equalization payments. Sigh. Such a hard choice...but I really don't wanna see another election... 07/05/2007 Bloggin' and Rantin'I haven't posted in a loooooooong while...so much have happened! First of all, my daughter had bilateral retina detachments; so that took a lotta my time. A tribute to my children's daycare whose staff members came in not only once to see my daughter in hospital; but twice! On the second visit, they braught in gifts for her. So here she is a few weeks later, back at daycare, and I'm hoping and praying that there won't be anymore retina detachments
So what else is new...oh, yes *BLUSH* my very first CyberCrush!!! ROFL! To be perfectly honest, I never did understand anything about internet romances. I mean, how could you fall in love with some guy you've never met? This guy...I don't know his name, email addy, nor what he looks like. All I know is that he's Messianic Jewish, extremely intelligent, extremely arrogent, and...nice sometimes. Well, I guess life has a way of teaching us lessons, eh? That even the best of Christians are not immune to this. But the Bible does say that even the lust of the heart is still adultery. Scary, huh? By the way, its is something I'm NOT!!!!!!!!!!! proud of, and something that I've scoffed at before but am gonna be V-E-R-Y cautious of in the future. :(
So I'm still in the eliyah.com chat room...though not as much. I was talking to this guy last night, and he said that in the US there are those Muslim prayer towers popping up all over the States. He said he actually heard one of them honky-thingys go and thought it sounded very eerie...I'd be freaking out too! Hubby said if one ever pops up here in Halifax he'd turn into an Anti-Honky Activist and try to prevent the Muslims from erecting one. Man, what is it with those Muslims??? I mean, they immigrate to Canada and change our laws; yet if us Christians go to Iran and say the Our Father in public, then it's off with our heads. Kinda hypocritical, eh?
Just recently, I joined this new chat room, called ChristianDebate, and I'm lovin' it!!! It's run by a group of Christians and it allows Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists come in and debate. Aaaahhhh...nuffin' like a good intellectual workout, especially since there is no opportunity to have "intellectual talk" at home or with your hubby! heh heh...one of the Bible Bots have a Qur'an in it; hmm...why don't it have a Talmud in it, niether...
So I joined YouTube again...it's www.youtube.com/NiaomiRuth and this time I'm only sticking to clean videos...not that crazy stuff I was watching before. I didn't upload any videos yet, and I'm not gonna be uploading any foolishness, neither. All the weird comments I got with my sillyhousewife account got to me after awhile.
I was in ChristianDebate, and one guy posted this video. It was sooooooo good that I'm gonna share it with all of you guys. http://www.caspari.com/YeshuaSuperstar.wmv The interview itself is in Hebrew; but there are English subtitles. I ended up listening to the Hebrew words, and found out I was able to pick out six or seven Hebrew words...WHOO-HOO!!! Mebbe it is possible for me to learn Hebrew after all...
