25/07/2006 Gay Pride RantWhat's the big deal with the Gay Pride parade? Sure, gay people got rights to jobs and services and the like. But honestly, MUST they dress up in weird clothes and go 95% naked in a big freaking parade??? I wonder about a Straight Pride parade...
So there are these big guady floats. Straight couples hold hands and kiss. Maybe the Pope will be the Grand Marshall. He'll ride in his Popemobile with a huge Roman cross in one hand, and the other hand waving some incense container thingy. Behind him is a huge float with a 95% nude straight couple getting married by a heterosexual-advocating priest. Maybe some cardinal or archbishop or something. Behind them comes different religious groups marching with their faithful, complete with giant placards. Maybe some cute hunks and cute chicks making sexually suggesive gestures to the crowds behind the religious groups. Last but no least, scores of families: moms and dads with their kids and babies in strollers.
Or it could go another way...Polygamist Pride Week. Yep, in Canada, polygamist groups are now in legal battles to fight for their religious freedom to have more than one wife. (Fundamentalist Morman groups have this belief, and also some Muslim sects.) Let's see...Notorious Bountiful (BC) leader Winston Blackmore would be Grand Marshall, followed by his seventy- or eighty-some wives and children. Then a whole stream of Morman men with their wives and children carrying placards. Hymns with no drums blare from floats. Then, a sharp contrast, high-pitched Islamic music blare from the speakers of some $100,000 richy black shiny car. Behind it, some young Muslim woman dance traditional dances. An imam sits on a float shouting out Islamic rhetoric. Behind that float, Muslim men follow behind with their multiple wives carrying babies and placards. Children shyly stick close to their mommies.
Good God, how far will this go??? Open one door, then a whole flood comes! I can almost see it now...fifty years or less from now, we'll see all this stuff taking place. Sigh...this is Canada...people has a lifestyle choice, and wants to make it legal. Even harmful ones that'll cost the Health Dept millions. Someone's got to draw the line somewhere! 16/07/2006 Universal Child Care RantThis July, all of us moms with kids six and under will be receiving the hundred bucks a month aka: Universal Child Care Benefit Program. (Or should I say beneSHIT program?!?) Sure, it's nice to get the extra cash, especially for those of us on social assistance. But for those who don't get funding for daycare, that extra cash would be gobbled up in the increased fees imposed by the daycare centers. (Who, in fact, were counting on the Liberal government's Early Learning Program.) This is a stupid program lacking all widsom, with no regards whatsoever to the daycare businesses!!! If you happen to read this blog entry, and are upset by the PM's devious plan, contact your local MP. Also, you can get the email address of the Minister of Social Development and Child Care, the Hon. Diane Finlay on the gov't website. (www.gov.gc.ca) Don't rant or do a tirade in the emails, rather do your homework, and do a well-written, intelligent email. It'll go a long way! To the left of this blog, you will find a section headed Cool Websites. There is a link you can click on called Build Child Care. (www.buildchildcare.ca) Or click here. 09/07/2006 Hypocrisy RantI reallyreallyreally need to get this off my chest. It's been bothering for quite a number of years now, and I feel it's an important issue for me. Those of you who know me, I am a Christian. I mean, I have strong conviictions of certain issues, and I enjoy learning the Biblecal history. I've believed in God ever since I was a little girl. I dunno...it was always in me, I guess. But was really distresses me is the hypocrisy that is rampant in the church.
It reminds me of a society club. Those who got money and fancy clothes and all that crap are "in". Obviously, my family's not "in". And the gossip! They form little cliques and gossip about one onather. Sorta reminds me of high school. Like my mother-in-law says, they want to know your business, then they don't bother with you anymore. I know that I shouldn't let it bother me, but what am I, a robot with no feelings? I read the Bible, and it says to treat people the way you want to be treated. You know, the Golden Rule. I guess the other Christians don't know about THAT!!! I feel so uptight in church. Like I don't belong there. Like I can't fit in or be accepted. I've been hurt so many times by so-called "Christians". I'm not saying that Christians should be perfect. But sheesh, do they have to be "better" then everyone else? Do they have to ridicule you when you ask an innocent question? C'mon, gimme a break!
I've talked to so many people on the subject. It turns out I'm not the only one who feels this way. Quite a few people actually told me they though they believed in God, they've been hurt so bad by church members and church officials that they left. In a way, I don't blame them. I'm not saying that's right, but I am saying that I completely understand where they are coming from. If "church people" want to attract more people to their congregation, they should start practicing true Christian values. Read the Bible and practice what it says. And for heavens sake, be real...don't put on a front! |
